Reunite pets with their owners, even if it’s after hours
Our new 24-hour Microchip Scan Station has the tools and information you need to either reunite a lost pet with its owner or get a pet into safe hands until the shelter opens the next day. Our scanner is easy to use thanks to step-by-step instructions that walk you through the process and different scenarios you might encounter. With the addition of this reunification tool, WCHS hopes to see fewer strays surrendered to the shelter and more lost pets returned home quickly after displacement.
Where is it?
The scan station is located just outside of our front glass doors.

How to use it
If you have the pet contained and it’s safe to handle, head to WCHS and park in the front lot. The Microchip Scan Station is found to the left of the front glass doors.
Use the nearby leash hook to safely secure the pet to the building while you work.
Read the infographic carefully and follow each step.
You’ll find a pen and paper inside the scanner box. You can jot down the microchip number (if a microchip is present) and return to your vehicle with the pet to begin contacting microchip companies.
